Anyone have experience of this checkpoint? I have DACA. I just would prefer to avoid it on my way to Scottsdale from OC, CA. I might have to drive on I-40.

Not sure if this is just an office or a checkpoint?

I have a couple of times, last time was about 2-3 years ago, so not sure if it has changed.
Its suppose to be a check-point but they usually just let cars pass. I've never been stopped.

The only time I did encounter BP there was when I took Greyhound about 12 years ago and they went inside the bus. They were asking for ID's and I almost shitted myself, but I lied my way and told them I lost my purse and only had my College ID, which I provided. They bought it... at that time I had not idea what I had just done though.

But just take your EAD card just in case and you'll be fine. I'll be traveling to AZ in the next week or so, so update me how it all goes. I'll be taking the I-10 if end up not flying.

If you are referring to the one at the Az/Ca stateline, it is only a 1 way checkpoint. There is no checkpoint entering AZ from CA.
They usually just wave vehicles through unless you are in a van, or hauling an enclosed trailer. The "officers" working there are not CBP agents.

I pass by this checkpoint about once a month. Every now and then, there are CBP vehicles parked there.
I have been waved through 95% of the time.
The other few times, I was asked where I'm coming from and where I'm heading to. I have never been asked to present an I.D.
Take your EAD with you. Just to be safe, don't travel with an undocumented person on your way back to CA, not through there.
