Hey all,

Anyone here attending grad school while undocumented? If so, how did you let the school know about your status and how did they work out your stipend and free tuition? Please PM me or post!

Thanks!

Yes, I finished my masters and I'm undocumented. I did my bachelor and masters in CUNY. It wasn't too much trouble. They already had all my information. I didn't had to do anything in order to pay in-state tuition other then notarize a letter.

hey, thanks for the post.

Are you able to get stipends from your school? or institutional scholarships?

I'm hoping to get a phD and most schools offer stipends and free tuition, right? For those of you in the phD program, were you able to receive these benefits?

Thanks

I'm in Graduate School right now and I have not had any luck with getting stipend and tuition remission (though the schools I tried were all State schools, so private schools might be easier). The problem with me is you need to be able to legally work in US to be on the school payroll and only by being on the school payroll could they offer tuition remission.

Ditto what swim19 said. Certain schools will give you scholarships...mostly private schools, but you won't be able to get stipends, assistantship, etc from any school, private or public.
