So it seems the Dream Act should at least clear the senate floor...

Just looking over the senate vote predictions over at:

http://dreamact.info/senators

it's likely the dream act will pass this next round. Note how all "Nays" are republican and there are plenty of democrats on the fence or "unknown". If we don't have many republican flip-floppers, there's a chance for the 60..

Comments? Is the "prediction" pretty bogus or somewhat accurate?
Obviously, this could all be old news,..

Hmm, I guess on closer inspection, it's just too close to call. There's 9 democrats "on the fence/unknown" that if voted "yay" would lead to 62 votes if there are no flip floppers (wishful thinking). Perhaps we could focus our efforts on the "likely nay" democrats? Nvmd, i guess this is a worthless thread...

Idk about predictions like this.
I prefer to just focus on the task at hand and not look ahead too much.
No need to set ourselves up for disappointment yet again, y'know?

I'm not one to be optimistic, but I have hope. I'm wondering though, not to get too far from the actual topic at hand, but once it passes the Senate (fingers and toes crossed), what happens next? Thanks in advance.

Haha that's awesome... brought back memories, thanks. Actually what I really wanted to know was where this act is at now? I know it was just re-introduced in March so is there an actual time table of when certain bills get debated?

Well, CIR is expected to come up in the House in May(?) and in the Senate by September. Of course, things could change and CIR might come up later on. We really don't know for sure at this time.

BTW, don't expect to see Dream come up on its own though, unless CIR fails first.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, man. You've also answered my other question. I thought DREAM was introduced as a standalone bill.. I think it would have had a better chance, but I don't know jack, so I'll let the pros do it.
I'm still very hopeful, but I'm even more concerned about it not passing being attached with CIR... we'll see.

Is there really no chance for the DA to be introduced on its own or is this just speculation on your part?

We had seen this in the past, granted it was after the CIR failure as you mentioned, but there is still a glimmer of hope.

I think the whole DA matter could be disposed of much quicker on its own (duh..) and I am afraid that the whole CIR debate will just stir the pot, and some people will change their minds from "give these poor children a chance..." to "amnesty, again? especially now when our citizens are losing jobs....let me call my senator/respresentative"(and obviously the percentage of the opposition who can vote is much bigger than the one of its supporters) .
