Summer break is coming up and I want to get a job. Since I do not have SSN, how would I go to get a job? What places could I apply for a job? I would like to know how you guys were able to manage and get a job. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I am in the process of doing this myself. I guess the best way is to ask the potential places how much thye pay and if they pay cash. Say you are an international and cannot work--restaurants and such should not have a problem, but big chain stuff usually take taxes off automatically. I know it is a pain in the ass, but what can you do? I am in the exact same spot. Not sure what the person above is taking about.

haha. Yeah right.

I'm currently working cleaning a place. It fuckin sucks.... I don't think any citizen would want my job. So how can I be taking someone's job?

I guess I got lucky. I found the job on craigslist they pay me in a personal business check (Equivalent to cash). The bosses know that they are hiring an illegal because when they hired me they told me: "Do you want to be on the payroll and pay taxes, or be paid in personal check and don't pay taxes? (Their way of asking are you an illegal haha) they know darn well they wont find a citizen that will do the crappy job for as long as I have.

I guess the best way is to ask through your parents or friends if someone they know needs help at their business. You will be really surprised...people are definitely looking for workers especially during the summer.

what kind of question?
depends on the kind of job, depends on full time or part time, depends on the location
just go around and see if anybody wants to hire you
go on craglist, find some part time

My sister and I always asked for cash during the interview. We used to give the excuse that we had a scholarship that would go be taken away if we had an income. We live in NYC and I know it's very easy for us here. She works for a company that gives her a check, she told them she would do the 1099 tax form. So they don't witheld any taxes. Kind of like freelance. I am not as brave as her so I only go for cash and I just told my boss that I needed to be paid under the table, at that point she was so depended on me she couldn't refuse. Try a small independent business. Tell them your story. People are sympathtic. Use your own judgement when you are doing so. I am just telling you my experience. Sorry about the typos really tired and buzzed. Love you all.

Um, guys? I'm pretty sure other topics like this have been locked. This site/forum doesn't endorse stuff like lying or faking docs so be careful.
