Well actually 245i is really good if you marry, my sister just got her green card and used the 245i, also my mom used the 245i and has a green card, and therefore I will get to use the 245i as well,

I have these options--

1. Marry a girl--haven't meet the love of my life

2. Brother/Mother sponsorship-- My brother filed a petition for me but that will take years, although I just got a letter saying that my petition was approved and will now go to CRV- visa department to sleep another 5-10yrs. ahah

3. Get a work sponsorship,

a. I was hoping to get a masters degree in engineering but that is taking a long time to accomplish.

b. Should I do what Geronimo is doing and become an RN nurse and apply for B-VISA?

c. OR---- CHECK THIS OUT, I have a friend that has a company and would it be really easy for him to sponsor me for work?

I guess no one wants to help me. I'm more interested on comments about filing with my friends company.

I am not too familiar with the 245i However, the length of time for a family petition tends to vary with how close the family member is to you, and what is their current status.

I am assuming your brother is a USC to have petitioned you, however, your post caused me to question a few things, where did you get the 5-10 year figure? I ask because my sis is a USC, and right now I am waiting for my parents to become USC as the petition process from a parent petitioning a son/daughter is about a year, but there are still 4.5 years because they can even apply for a citizenship.

either way, here is what a quick search on this site developed regarding work sponsorship:
http://dreamact.info/forum/showthrea...rk+sponsorship
it also makes references to the 245i grandfathering clause, I would definitely go to the site they have mentioned as you will get more expert help from people that understand the law better.

First of all, we're not all on here every single day, so have a little patience.

Second, your friend will have to prove that he couldn't hire a USC who had better qualifications. This doesn't mean saying "oh, I couldn't find anyone." This means having actual proof. Good luck with that. Looks like you only have a BA, so I doubt your friend could prove anything unless you have extensive knowledge and experience in that field of work.

Hmm, I don't know how the job petition works. I do know my dad was being petitioned by the owner of a construction company. He was a friend of a close friend of ours, so he was helping us out. It was going pretty well, until the lawyer screwed my dad by missing a deadline.

It must be possible if my dad was being petitioned. He entered illegaly, so he was going to have to go serve the 10 year ban.. but since you are covered under 245i, nothing to worry about there.

Talk to a lawyer. They will be able to help you better figure out what the best choice is and if it would be possible for your friend to petition for you through his company.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Imo,you should complete the MA in engineering if under 245i & forget the other applications for the time being, but if you happen to fall in love do what you think is best. Also be sure to get a copy of the application to actually prove you're under 245i.

I am in the same position as you, my only options are getting married or waiting 10-15 years for my gc. Work sponsorships don't work for us since we have to prove to USCIS where we completed our academic accomplishments, meaning we would have to tell them that we lived illegally in the US. Even if you left the country with a completed degree in engineering you would still have to prove where you obtained your degree. :/
