My friends are going to San Diego and I want to ,but I don't know if its safe or not.

We live in Modesto which is in the central valley. Are there any random check points ?

Maybe I shouldnt go, my friends know my situation but I don't know.

?

LOL at the video post.

It's not the drive to San Diego that's dangerous, it's the drive back up. There are random checkpoints on both the 5 North and the 15 North, so there's no going around it. I wouldn't suggest going to Daygo, it's not worth it. Just go to Vegas and party it up there.

I go to SD pretty often, the checkpoint on the way back is usually not open, but even when it is I have just shown my college ID, and its been fine, as long as you're not driving, and can speak English, i'd think its pretty safe.

concord, I'm from NY so I don't know how tough the border patrol really is in the west. But I've been to Texas, and practically been in road trips through out most of the south. Ive seen the green border patrol cars driving around.

My mom knew some people who worked with them and they told her that their method is really just to profile you, you know with all the stereo types. Because usually they are dead on. For example, if you seem nervous while they are passing by you then they'll stop you. If your brown or have Aztec features, then they'll stop you. and if they stop you for any other reason and you have a accent in your English, then you might have problems.

But as long as you can play it cool, and be as American as you have ever been while dealing with them, then you should be good. And when they ask for social numbers, take advantage that you are young and say you don't remember the number that well. Because really, cops dont expect young people to have ssn in the back of their heads all the time. Or be driving around with it or a passport every time they go to another state.
