“Today I am announcing that I will not seek a tenth term in the United States Congress this November,” Diaz Balart said, according to his prepared remarks.

Even though he's saying he'll just come back to Miami and be a lawyer and fight for Cuba, etc...etc...I really think that he'll try to run as either a senator or governor, or something (hopefully he'll stay true to his word and he won't, but I highly doubt it).

And, of course, his brother will be running for his seat (I hope he doesn't get it).

Anyway...the good thing is that he's leaving and that maybe his seat will eventually belong to a Democrat (plus, he's a fake motherfucker).

Oh, and don't let him fool you. He's always taking about a reform, and blah...blah...blah...but like I said, he's just a fake motherfucker.

He is actually the main Republican sponsor for Dream act in the House & as such if he has to go the Democrat would have to find another person to co-sponsor Dream act with as a Bi-partisan team.

This is the kind of mentality that has hijacked Washington and left us in the permanent gridlock state that we’re in. We don’t need bipartisan support in the House. If Republicans want to pander to the teabagger crowd and shoot themselves in the foot, then so be it. I’m with Mauro on this one: goodbye and good riddance.

In fact, this is a great pickup opportunity for Democrats. If they get someone like Joe Garcia and frame the Republican opponent as part of the anti-Latino movement, the 74% Latino electorate in that district could easily turn that seat blue.

Also, this helps “purify” the party even further (great news for teabaggers everywhere); which conversely makes it harder for the Republican leadership to pretend they're in touch with America. In other words, it will be harder for them to point at the one Latino guy in the room and say “look, we’re not just a bunch of White old men.”

They’re down to a handful of them now —mostly old Cubans.

Well back in the day when I was in DC a former Congressional aide turned lobbyist explained it as being a safety feature so that no matter which party comes to power there will always be a main sponsor for the bill.If Republicans had power Balart would be the main sponsor but since Democrats are in power now it is Berman, also they said the bosses like to trump up "Bi-partisanship" back home so it is a win-win that way.It also makes it easier potentially for the bill to be brought to the floor for a vote no matter which party is in power due to the elections & ultimately controls whichever body of Congress.Republicans don't usually bring Democrat type bills to the floor & vice versa so it is more of a safety valve than anything else.

Despite all of that however,I got the impression despite DC being a beautiful place lawmakers are petty at best & corrupt at worse hence why I don't really keep up with what goes on as much as I am sure others who have experienced the same having been there themselves.

This is why I try to answer mainly current immigration law questions since no one can really say when mere introduced legislation will change what is currently practiced & could be around for a lot longer than a lot would like to admit.

Well, I don't know how long ago that conversation took place, but that is clearly not the case anymore.

Just look at health care reform for proof. Max Baucus and his almighty "gang of six" —which sounds more like the very first porn I watched as a young lad— enjoyed tea and crumpets for 6 months all in the spirit of bipartisanship. The result: nothing.

Now to your second point. It will be a very long time for Republicans to be in the majority again (or to control the judiciary committee which is really what matters). Despite the paranoid claims of news commentators in the 24hr-cable-news-cycle era, Republicans have a long way to go before they're able to collect themselves and get back on the horse. As you know, the numbers are simply not there.

So sure, if in 20-30 years the Dream Act hasn't passed, and Republicans are back in power, then we might need "bipartisanship", but I think we should cross that bridge when we come to it.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is just another fake b*tch. Yesterday while driving her voice, sadly, came up on the radio. Just like any other Republican in South Florida, all she does is talk crap about Obama and only cares about Cuba.

About Diaz-Balart leaving his seat, like I said before, he's not just going back to be a lawyer and help Cuba. Do you know who Maria Elvira is? She's a very famous Cuban host (who tries to be objective but she just can't help it and always ends up showing that she's a Republican) is South Florida. Last night, she even said that there is some sort of plan behind this. Mario Diaz-Balart couldn't really explain why he's brother is leaving either.

If there's one thing I've learned since I moved to Miami is that Cubans...only care about Cuba.
