Los Angeles to San Fransisco and back.

I know it's unlikely since it's not close to the border, but are there any checkpoints from Los Angeles to San Fransisco and back? I usually travel from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and we all know there aren't any there...and that's across state lines.

Nope, via I-5 or I-1. I have been up there a bunch of times with no problems.

It should be less than that. I'd say about 7 hours tops driving speed limit without stopping.

Hmmm. Thanks. Would it be smart to take the Amtrak or a bus up there and back down?

I have never been on either, though I hear ICE boards both to check I.D.'s - maybe somebody else with more experience can interject more information...

there are no immigration checkpoints in the Bay Area/Nor Cal.

LA to SF is a safe drive on I-5 or the 101
