This is why they're so busy in Washington
Universal National Service Act
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h5741/text

To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes.

I honestly feel like some people are spoiled, and they need the experience in order to give them a reality check and put some perspective in their life.

I don't think it will pass either. And if it passes I'm "illegal" to them and would probably go under the radar. No way Im serving a country that calls me "illegal".

Check out who introduced the bill (Rangel). He is under some serious scrutiny right now.

I understand you are frustrated, but that's not the best way to look at the Armed Forces if you want to be USC. Nisei were thrown into government prison camps and had their property taken from them - yet they still choose to fight for the United States. They didn't whine, but instead fought for their new home and became the most decorated regiment in the Army (442nd ). They were such upstanding people that they raised their children became part of the most successful ethnic group to date in the United States.

Immigrants coming here have a long history of overcoming adversity and kicking ass for their new country. Many current ones can follow in their footsteps. If you want to be a USC I would strongly encourage you to not focus on name-calling, but work your ass off instead. Opportunity will come, it always does. This worked for my family members, and I think it can work for you to.
