No, I think he had thoughts of suicide. Last I heard, he found a benefactor and got into dental school.

But there was an article someone posted (from the NILC I think) and a Dreamer committed suicide a year or two ago because he lost hope.

anyone who considers suicide over this is completely Mod edit. i know this problem we share is a big part of our lives, but do you guys realize how fortunate you are compared to the rest of the world?

over half the world's population lives on less than $2 per day. some people seriously need a reality check.

Last edited by Abaddon; 09-20-2010 at 01:46 AM.. Reason: no need to use the word for that. clinical depression is an actual condition

Eh, I don't necessarily buy into that argument. People at all segments of society, no matter how well off, have unmet needs -- material, emotional, physical, etc. Just because they're not the one person in the world who has the worst life ever doesn't mean that they have no right to complain or feel distressed and depressed.

You obviously have a right to feel depressed, but you should never force those feelings on other people. Frankly, our right to complain is minimal really, because our situation, while completely unjust, is not that bad. Anybody who even considers suicide because of our situation really needs to take a step back and a look at their life as a whole, and try to figure out what they actually expect from it.

Not to mention that suicide is probably the most selfish thing you can do. Not only will you leave your family with numerous expenses but they will all blame themselves for the rest of their lives, it will be completely your fault.
