A man was outside when he saw a caterpillar and decided to pick it up, put it in a jar and watch it transform into a butterfly. His plan was going great and eventually the caterpillar made itself a little cozy cocoon. The man then noticed the jar shaking and the now butterfly was obviously having trouble breaking through its protective cocoon. The man noticed it's struggle and rushed to save it. With a knife, he carefully cut through the cocoon releasing a beautiful butterfly. However, the butterfly just wouldn't fly, even after various attempts. Confused the man googled why wouldn't this butterfly actually fly. What did he discover? The struggle that the butterfly goes through to break out of the cocoon forces the blood to move through the wings. Without the struggle, a butterfly simply can not fly.

I had to give you props for this. I'm sure somebody is going to need it when they have one of those days.

actually i feel like our situation is more like being inside that jar. I managed to break through my cocoon (12 years of public education) but then when I realized I can fly...i had no where to go. Stuck in glass jar watching other butterflies flying around drinking nectar while I wait for this MAN to open the damn jar

Very inspirational, I love these kind of quotes and passages, but then again they depress me even more.

hah, yeah. It's like well, if only the guy hadn't poked through the cacoon, the butterfly would be able to fly. Now, it can't fly, forever. It's stuck.

But whatever. I'm sure that's not what the author wanted us to get from it.
I like it anyway.

"History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats."

Bump just because so many people are crushed by yesterday's defeat.

I feel like this situation has done nothing for me and that the only thing I could ever get back from it, is understanding. We've carried on our tiny backs the weight of immigration debate, of 3 (for me) presidents and countless representatives. If our struggle is any indication of the happiness, wealth, or greatness we will receive, They won't have enough text books to write about it.

**Sorry for the melodrama, I'm just in one of those moods again.=P
