Last week, I received an email from someone whom I thought was a reliable source from Harry Reid’s camp. The email talked about how the Dream Act would be changedto include those who just graduate high school and are between the ages of 5 and 45. I received a lot of backlash from the article. I wrote it to help the migrants whom the Dream Act would cover, not hurt them. I stood with the article because I supported the changes.

I did research throughout the weekend and found out that the source of the email was not from Harry Reid’s camp—it was from someone who is against the Dream Act that was trying to spread lies. Unfortunately, I believed the lies. I apologize to my readers.

I completely support the Dream Act. I completely support Latino rights and the efforts to turn our stolen land back into Aztlan. Other Latinos don’t support the “Aztlan” movement and we can agree to disagree. However, I don’t support false information. I apologize to the people I hurt by this article and can only say this: Your dream is my dream. Let’s work together to help this act pass.

just wondering if spreading lies to gain votes for certain candidate is a crime punishable by law? It should be in my opinion. Many hillbillies take crap for granted along with most of TeaBaggers.

If I had the power to make laws i would make I would make it a crime. I would call it "societal slander".

I second this question

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aztl%C3%A1n
that provides some history if anyone is interested, but, it seems like a way too obscure matter to mention in an article about apologizing for a piece that was not researched properly.

Not to mention its potentially harmful to mentioned something like that, and to single out a very small group people while ignoring that the beneficiaries are from everywhere.

Someone on the same site with the author's name posted this.

Actually, I meant to say that I stood with the article because no matter how much the information offended people, I believed the source. Oh well, we all make mistakes.
The Dream Act has little to do with the Aztlan movement snce many of the eligible beneficiaries of this act aren't Latino. I'll clear that up in another article.
Let's hope the Dream Act passes soon!
It will be interesting to see what is said on the issue.
