Gaby Pacheco (from Trail of Dreams) posted this to her Facebook:

Today Senator Durbin is launching an effort to gather the stories of immigrant youth from around the country who would be eligible for the DREAM Act (a.k.a. “Dreamers”).

Tell Senator Durbin Your Dreams!

Senator Dick Durbin, the lead sponsor of the DREAM Act, is gathering the stories of young people who would be eligible for the DREAM Act.

The DREAM Act is a bipartisan bill that would give a select group of immigrant students the chance to earn legal status. You may be eligible for the DREAM Act if:
· You came to the United States as a child (15 or under);

· You are a long-term U.S. resident (five years or more); and

· You have graduated (or will graduate) from high school or have obtained (or will obtain) a GED;

Senator Durbin needs your help as he works to pass the DREAM Act. Telling the stories of DREAM Act students is the best way to build support for the bill. If you are a DREAM Act student, send your story to [email protected]. Tell Senator Durbin:
· When did you come to the United States?

· Where did you come from?

· Where do you live?

· Where are you going to school?

· What are you studying?

· What are your hobbies?

· What would you like to do when you graduate?

· What are your dreams for the future?

· Have you ever been in deportation proceedings?

Some of the stories will be posted on the DREAM Act page of Senator Durbin’s website.

At your request, your name and/or your story will be kept strictly confidential.

I thought about it, and then I realized my story is just going to be one of many in someone's inbox. Are they really trying to pass reform. In my heart, I don't believe so.

I know Durbin has fought for us for many years but unfortunately he hasn't succeeded. The leadership in his party is spineless, and I believe in my heart they are Evil. They are using the Hispanic community as pawns in their sick political game.

I may well be wrong by not engaging in this, but I am so sick of all this politicians.

I've begun to echo your thoughts about our situation and what we are doing. How many letters need to be sent? How many phones need to be broken in dialing those digits? How many extreme actions need to happen (God Bless you hunger strikers and Cross country trekkers)? How many meetings with spineless politicians need to happen?

All those strengthen the movement for a shared goal. It also gives some of us a reason to keep going in this path. It is enough? Is there a way to turn it up a notch that even our revolutionary forefathers would be proud of. DREAM Act encompasses some of the greatest minds of our generation, surely we can brainstorm up a plan that is new and exciting.

Shock and awe in a peaceful way.
