Not on the forum, but as a section of the main site. We could write up our stories and Nick can pick some to showcase some of the many struggles we have had to face growing up undocumented. It might be good to get our stories out to people, and this website is the first thing that shows up when you Google search "Dream Act".

People who care enough will find a story in their favorite newspaper. Those who don't, wont read the stuff anyway. The better thing to do is to handwrite your story and send it to a senator of your choice. The best thing to do is to visit her and tell your story.

I've seen many efforts to "collect stories" and I haven't seen any of them bear any fruit. Yes, we see our stories as an asset, because they are. However, putting them in a bundle and throwing them on a blog or website, which is the easy thing to do, does absolutely nothing. In other words doing so we misuse one of our best assets.

That has been my observation. What do you think?

We write our stories in the New Members sub-forum anyway. Those who care enough will find their way to those stories.

... but there are just some that are so impressive and where only shared once written by people who have an ability to write and really cause emotions on the reader. I think some stories needs to be heard more often. I have been here for a while now, and I still remember some of the stories from very early in my membership to this site. Stories that made me feel strength in knowing that someone else was out there struggling and going through a lot worse and still looking up and achieving so much and overcoming obstacles that I would have considered next to impossible.

I recall the story of the person that was molested by a family member, but due to her cultural background was essentially ignored by her family, whose sole parent was facing mental issues, but who found the strength to tell her story and stays in a church helping other people. Or the story that demonstrate that even a person of native american blood could be banned based on how much of his blood may be considered from which tribe, and how as a result of a parent from two different tribes because one parent is a certain gender and from a certain tribe he is not recognized by the US as being legally here.

Or the countless stories of struggles and challenges people have faced by coming out, some denoting the dangers that should be of extreme importance for the dreamer community to take into consideration and some denoting the relief immense help in being able to gain a little freedom from this very restrictive status.

There are many stories, but reading through several hundred stories to find the few hidden gems and everyone having to do the same is not very efficient, not when this is a site that appears so early when anyone searches dream act on google so we probably get a few people that are just curious about what the dream act really is, and are not going to spent hours reading through n00bs saying how they think this is a great site, or who just write 'hi' as their first comment, or who are just not willing to actually share their story yet.

I like the idea of highlighting some of the stories.

Completely Agree with sharing stories. I am currently looking for compelling dreamer stories for my undergraduate research. can someone please direct me to the proper forum or know of anyone who would be good to share their stories? I have won various writing awards and am ready to work alongside dreamers who have a compelling and inspiring story to tell. Any help would be appreciate. I am looking to eventually publish my findings.
