Does Obama deserve all the blame for the inaction on CIR (2008-2010)?

Yes, Obama promised that he would deal with immigration as soon as possible once in the presidency. However, he prioritized the economy and health care reform. He failed the undocumented community.

But, considering that congressional Democrats could have ignored Obama's agenda and dealt with immigration reform, aren't they also at fault? They went along with Obama's agenda.

This is stupid! Obama and the DEMS are on our side. The Repubs are the ones trying to deport us all! What can he do to kick star immigration reform? You guys blame everyone except the GOP. Stop bitching about Obama and start pressuring the REPUBS. If you guys pressured the GOP half as much as you pressure obama, We would already have legal status!

I am just presenting a discussion question.

And with all due respect, I think we have gone out of our way to pressure Republicans to help the undocumented community wether through CIR or the DREAM Act as a stand-alone bill.

All that is left is for Obama to pressure Republicans to compromise on immigration; we have honestly done "enough."

It doesn't matter how much pressure Obama puts on the GOP. Whatever Obama wants to the GOP will do the Opposite, actively oppose it and spread lies about. The GOP don't want to work with Obama they want the country to fail just so the country can blame it on him. If Obama couldn't pressure the GOP to pass a clean bill on something so simple and routinely as to raise the Debt limit what makes you think he can pressure them to work with him on something so controversial as CIR?

Yes. Bush tried twice, once in his first term and again on his second term. What about Obama? He's a useless piece of shit comparable to the anti-immigrant forces. The president sets the agenda and uses his leadership to prioritize what he wants to do. Immigration is clearly not on his list of things to do.

My memory is not what it used to be, but who was in the white house in '10?

The republicans in congress can't be pressured to change their minds on the issue( They are that stupid and stubborn lol). That is why they were voted out in the 2006 and 2008 elections. The only thing the Latino community can do now is to vote them out in 2012, but for the mean time there is NOTHING wrong with putting pressure on Obama to do something administratively.

I give Obama a lot of credit because we had the Dream Act in a Lame-Duck session. It passed in the House. We also have several bills of CIR.
