Likewise, LIMD. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

I must warn that not everyone in DAP is very friendly towards the gay community. Unfortunately, even within suppressed groups there is a great deal of homophobia. I think just having a thread related to LGBT might have them bringing out their pitchforks and torches. lol. It's okay. We're strong.

I hope more LGBT immigrant issues are picked up in the upcoming years. I know Senator Menendez is very interested in helping us have equal rights within the immigration system.

Yeah it's sad to think that dreamers would discriminate on the gay community, considering the fact that we are fighting multiple struggles.

Where are you from? Sounds to me like more government official need to follow in the foot steps of Senator Menendez. Being gay definitely poses a new set of challenges on top of being a dreamer.

I'm from Houston. They call it the space city, bayou city, or traffic hell. lol. It's been the only home I have ever known.

Definitely, politicians need to step up their game in defense of the rights of minorities. Personally, I'm not interested in the idea of marriage for papers, but if it allows us a status as being equal in society I'm all for it.

You know, I didn't use to care about LGBQ issues. I thought my sexuality was my issue, nobody needs to know, I didn't have to speak up about it. It wasn't until I heard the story of a 13 year old boy from the Houston area who committed suicide after being bullied for being gay. At the time, my nephew was being bullied as well so it hit me very close to home. It was enraging how ignorant and stupid the school acted; pretending the issue did not exist until a great tragedy happened. All I could think of was how much that little boy suffered thinking his feelings were wrong and how he didn't deserve to live. How people can be so inconsiderate and malicious to make that little boy's life miserable until the very end. It isn't right. It's heartbreaking. It made me change my views. I need to speak, we need to speak up so that tragedies like that don't happen.

I wouldn't say all Dreamers discriminate against the gay community, hell you guys don't bother me or anything so I don't mind or care what you guys do. My neighbors are homosexual and that doesn't bother me one bit, they are the most caring people I know.

So I've been super busy and caught up with work and hadn't had the chance to log on in a while, but I was brought up to date on all the anti-gay drama that occurred while I was gone. It's extremely sad to know that there is such hate and ignorance within our dreamer community We're all fighting the same fight... equal rights for all!
