Train from Central IL to Chicago?

My gf and I would like to do something different and get out of town for a change, but she says taking a train would be more ideal as opposed to driving. I have a friend I'd like to see in Chicago if he's there, but if not we have other plans of other things we'd like to do also.

Is taking a train a big no-no? Does anyone know specifically how I should go about it? What I should take into consideration or plan ahead about? Thanks!

Honestly it should not be a problem if you're not near the border. Does your trip have any stops? I also suggest taking the bus but make sure its an express and does not stop anywhere just to be on the safe side.

Specifically it'd be from Bloomington/Normal, and I'm guessing no stops along the way but I honestly don't really know. I've never been on a train and am pretty unfamiliar with it.

Nothing to worry about especially if it's only from Bloomington/Normal. I've traveled to ISU via train many times and never had any problem.
