I recently started up a small business online, I always been crafty so I started selling some stuff online and i been getting a good amount of sales witch is awesome because I can sure use the money. But I'm not sure since if I'm getting money it means I'm sorta working and it may be illegal. If anyone can help me, i'll appreciate it.

thank you.

Hey. Not too sure about your question but what's your website. I'd like to see it and maybe buy something and promote it as much as I can.

Well it all depends on how much money you are making. Let me know the details and I can help you. I run a company so I know the process to make sure you are legally protected. The trick is you are illegal if you are an employee, but you are not if you are a business owner.

There is nothing in the law that prevents you from starting a Limited Liability type business. (LLC). SCORP formation has a citizenship requirement. Is your small business an LLC or SCORP?

With an LLC, you can work as a contractor on behalf of the business entity. All business related payments that you receive should be paid to the business entity, not you. It gets tricky when you pay yourself a salary from the business earnings. Technically that's not legal. That's like working. But what if you needed the money for business related expenses while you volunteered for the company? hmm

hey everyone thanks for the input. Its not like a website or anything is just selling the things I make thru a website such as like ebay. It not ebay but something like it but for custom craft. I put my tax id number in my paypal because thats the system in which i get paid in, it is required and I was reading that if you make more than 20000 then it would be reported, I doubt ill be making that much lol

For what you are doing you may not even have to worry about reporting anything. What website are you using Etsy?

I disagree. I pay taxes, I may be in a gray area but really there is no need to call more attention to yourself by not paying taxes. Governments are like Mafia's if you stay out of their way and pay your protection money they won't hurt you and sometimes even help you. Now in the case of Karen and Mantequilla there is really no need for them to pay taxes because of the amounts that they are earning, but if they made more they should pay taxes.
