This is a slap in the face to Dreamer(s) Everywhere. 18 1/2??? They must plan on doing something in 5,4,3,2,Tommorrow

Two South Florida sisters dealing with a deportation dilemma have returned from Washington, D.C.

Daniela Pelaez and her sister Dayana arrived at Miami International Airport at 8:45 a.m. Friday with Congressman David Rivera (R-Fla.) by their side. "It was a phenomenal experience," said Daniela. "I met with congressmen and women from both parties, Republicans and Democrats. It was a great experience just to see how different their opinions might be but in the end, their goal is the same. Their mission is to help students like me."

While in D.C., the sisters met with Senators Marco Rubio (R- Fla.), Bill Nelson (D- Fla.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to discuss Daniela's current fight to stay in the U.S. and go to college.

Recently the court said Daniela and her older sister would have to return back to their native Colombia. The news sparked a protest at Daniela's high school and politicians rushed in to offer help. "I'm more determined, more than ever, to help millions of kids because I never want anybody to be in the same position I am in," said Daniela.

The Pelaez sisters also helped Congressman Rivera design new legislation to help young people who are facing deportation. "The legislation that we are proposing is called the S.T.A.R.S. Act," said Rivera, "Studying Toward Achieving Residency Status."

The S.T.A.R.S. Act would help students like Daniela stay in the U.S. if they meet certain criteria.

Rivera said this new act differs from the D.R.E.A.M. Act legislation. "It's a much more narrow focus for students that are specifically in the case of Daniela, that have graduated, have been accepted and will be able to graduate from the university," he said.

To qualify for the conditional non-immigration status, students must be under 18 and a half, demonstrate good moral conduct and follow through with plans to attend college. Failure to do so could result in deportation back to their native country.

"I want to continue help congressmen and any other senator that will support this bill," said Daniela.

The S.T.A.R.S. Act will be sent to a committee and the U.S. House Representatives and the Senate will have to vote on it.

Daniela Pelaez is going to have to ask David Rivera to introduce another bill for the second time around because she's going to age out by the time this bill passes lol..

How old are the sisters? Did the Pelaez Sisters put the age cap to meet how old they are going to be when this thing passes? I think that the two sisters sweet talked the senators that they met into crafting this POS bill to meet their specific situation to which i say FUCK THEM AND THIS PIECE OF SHIT BILL that throws all the hard work of the older Dreamers that put this bill on the map. What selfish assholes.

So, someone came here at the age of 16 and stay for 3 years will get a path to legalization. If you come here at the age of 1 and had been here for 18 years, you will not get sh*t?

Sounds fair to me
