I am aware this question has been asked many times before, but after looking at the past threads, I still have not received a clear answer.

Let me explain my situation. Summer is coming, and I am looking a job since I plan not to take any summer classes (I would rather make money than pay the school money).

I already have a job working 3 days a week, but I need more money. I was going through jobs on Craigslist and Backpage, and I see that there are many delivery positions for individuals who own a car. I do own a car; I have a license (from out-of-state); and all tags are up to date; and I do have insurance. The most interesting part is that they hire drivers as independent contractors, which is exciting because I have an ITIN.

The only question is how do I address the required background check and my driver's license being out-of-state? I could tell them I will get my license updated to this state very soon, or make some excuse. However, the background check still seems an issue.

Out of State DL should be perfectly acceptable. by law, they cannot discriminate based on what type of document you show as long as they are valid documents from List A, List B and List C on the form I-9.

I guess it was never mean to be. Most of these jobs say I need a valid TX license, and authorization to legally work in the US. I don't know why it matters if they are going to hire me as an independent contractor. I am getting really pissed.

If you work as an Independent Contractor, all you need to do is fill out the w-9 and a valid tax payer id/SSN. I-9 Id requirement is only for fulltime employee of the business entity.

I've heard background checks can report immigration status as well. Can anyone confirm this?

Independent contractor doesn't mean "teehee, illegal immigrants apply where, *winkwink*."

It means "hey, you, want to work 60 hours a week with no overtime, benefits, time off, insurance, etc? Apply here."

Even without benefits, it's not that bad. There is actually a perfectly legal way to do this if you are undocumented.

First, register an LLC. Then when you sign up for the contract, work on behalf of the LLC and have them make the payments payable to the LLC. After that you can get money from the business account as profit sharing. I've talked to a few lawyer friends of mine. According to them, there is nothing illegal in this process. After all, this is America. Here corporation are "PEOPLE" and apparently corporations have more rights than some humans. *shrug*

I don't know what your problem is, but you don't need to be condescending or a smart alec. When did I ever imply that contracting positions are for illegals?

I have worked 40+ hours and gone to school at the same time. Now, I don't want to get into into a competition with you about who has had it harder or hearing from you that "working 40 hours a week and going to school is nothing, because I have done even more."

I am just trying to find some type of legal method to make a living, and yes I am willing to work 60 hours a week. I don't need time off, overtime, benefits, or insurance, because I don't have them now nor do I expect to receive them.

I already have enough shit in life, and there is no place for you in it. If you have nothing to offer, then please don't reply to my threads. Please...
