was wondering if anyone knew if having debt would hurt one's chances with these new changes. I have some debts in collection that I can't afford to pay off right now.

How would you have debt if you don't have a valid ssn?

I don't think so.

You may want to look up the economic neccessity part also.
You can have debt without SSN/ITIN. It can be a medical debt.
Some Overstays do have SSN though.

i seriously doubt that having debt will disqualify you, unless you don't pay your bills or something. if you have $10,000 in credit card debt, and you pay your monthly payment, how is that a crime?

No it is not a felony nor a crime to be in debt, you should be fine.
