Hello do you guys think STARS ACT has a chance of passing, and if so by when? Im just asking for your thoughts of it passing and if so by when? I know nobody has a certain answer, but just a guess.

Also I know what many people in this forum think about the bill, but I'm a perfect candidate, better something then nothing.

No it was never going get enough sponsors. As for something better than nothing I'd take DACA or a Rubio proposal over Stars act.

What is wrong with the STARS ACT? other than the age cap?

The last I heard about the STARS Act it had an age limit of twenty and didn't have a military option. I see the DREAM Act as a compromise already since it wouldn't help those who decided to enter a trade after Highschool instead of going through college or the military. The STARS Act would leave out even more people, and ultimately face similar opposition. Might as well push for the DREAM Act instead.

As for the question whether the STARS Act will be passed. I simply don't see whose supporting it full time enough to even get it a vote. If it was being pushed by Rubio then it might get a vote. As it is now though resources are being used for the DREAM Act. STARS will be probably forgotten soon. I myself forgot about it until I saw this thread.

I didnt even know it was up for a vote, i thought the STARS Act was dead. The DREAM Act and DREAM Act lite will cover the military so i think if anything is to go up for a vote it will be the DREAM Act, or the alternate that Rubio claims he was working on. Put it like this...i believe when the DREAM Act (DREAM Act lite) comes up for a vote again, it will most likely pass.

I have nothing to back this with, but when Obama announced the Deferred Action for most of us (31 and older, u have my condolences...i hope CIR passes soon believe me) it was looked as like the "right thing to do." I take that as they A, dont wanna seem anti Hispanic in an election year. And B, its getting increasingly difficult for the oppositions to the DREAM Act to argue their points against the bill. Either way i believe any bill that will help people who migrated here as minors will pass next time it's on the floor. Probably just wishful thinking on my part, but the rhetoric against the DREAM Act has quieted significantly as of late.

Lol did you hear the remarks against Napolitano when she testified? Republicans oppose every bill and call it amnesty, looks like they could care less honestly.

I came up with the poll, and I don't think it's stupid. In fact it's stupid to make a remark that nobody asked for, read the freaking question and answer, I didn't ask for retarted remarks, like yours.

"By contrast, Sen. Rubio’s alternative proposal would reportedly provide undocumented youths with temporary immigration status while in college or the military but, importantly, contain no dedicated provision for obtaining permanent residency. Instead, as a spokesman for the Senator told a Washington newspaper, beneficiaries would have to use “existing pathways” to obtain permanent residency—meaning they could only qualify if they would otherwise be eligible for a green card."
