When we are adjusting our status through various means, does it require non-expired passport? Or can I do that with a translated birth certificate + Driver's License?

I ask this because I will be unable to renew my passport unless I leave the country and serve the mandatory military duty.

I mean, I'm more than happy to serve my home country in the military. The thing is that it will give me a 10 year ban, which defeats the entire purpose of me visiting this site

Yep. My postponement for military ends next year and I won't be able to further delay it unless I go to Korea, get the physical examinations, and they exempt me

If I skip out on it, when/if I go back to Korea (for example, get deported, KNOCK ON WOOD), I'll have to serve unless I'm like over 45 at that time... + fined..jailed..and not allowed to work until 45. (Not sure on the age of 45, but its close)

Geez, that sucks.

My home country also has a mandatory military service, but since it's a third world country anyone with money typically buys their way out of it. I don't know how to do that so I'm worried about myself if I ever get deported!

Bro your situation is probably one of the more dire ones posted.

I can't begin to give you advice but I do wish you luck! That's a tough case
