Even though DACA is not the same as the Dream Act, it certainly paves the way for a better future as it would make applying for school loans, obtaining positions, much much easier! If there are any premed students here, what are your plans after getting EAD (and SSN)?

If you are starting pre-med right now, then yeah they might be able to make plans. They have 4 more years of undergraduate to go, plenty of time for Dream Act to pass and get them green cards after 2 conditional years.

But heres where the reality hits: international students cant get into Med school.

Not even in Canada. Only rarely are 2 or 3 accepted, and those applicants are famous people. Either actors, sons of politicians, etc.

Actually.... that is completely untrue.
It's like how people say undocumented cant get into college lol
I've confirmed with schools personally that int'l students are eligible...
It's just that... the odds are stacked against int'l students

I wasn't doubting their eligibility. I know an international student in my university's med school.

He was a progamer that won tournaments. If you are the same, then have at it.

I plan on changing my legal status after getting married to a USC and then applying as a resident in my state.

It sucks knowing that your gpa, effort, and determination just isnt enough to get in...

Really? is that the only way?
What about getting a job at a firm (having them sponsor you) and then changing status....eventually Med school?
Maybe if your gpa is like 3.9+, amazing ECs, you may have a chance!

Well I'm not doing med school but dental. From what I can see, some schools will only accept residents/citizens.

I have a better chance getting hitched than waiting on a company to sponsor me.

getting into med school is my dream too. However, the reality of my status made me bow down to the fact that i can't go any further after college. No matter how talented i am, there is only so far i can go. However, i plan on retaking the MCAt in the near future just to prove myself that i am capable of doing it and keeping my dream alive.
