Hi on a side note i just want to say that it is totally safe and easy to travel with Advance parole and comeback!! I applied for AP twice on humanitarian reasons and got approved twice.. the first for 5 months of allowane.. the other one for 2 months.. they ask you simple questions like how many days you traveled, etc... But I highly reccomend traveling by airplane... I went to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.. but I don't know how other Airports would act... when you comeback to the US ask the personeel for an I94 they will give you one also take a pen with you.. I went to Mexico Monterrey!!! and well im parolee status now with AOS stamped maybe I will get approved for FAFSA.. Also Im 20 years but I look 15 ja maybe they went easy on me.. but like I said I have read other AP threads and they all succeed... you don't need a lawyer for this... for humanitarian reasons AP.. you can use a medical record from someone of your family ( grandpas, aunt, etc).. if they had a surgery (cardio, neuro, etc) just make sure they have one of your last names and translate your birth certificate to english to proof you are related to that family member, also translate the medical record ( I went online to translate them certified) it cost me $100 for both. Don't be afraid...

I read somewhere today that as a parolee you can have your status changed... let me see if I can find the source.

Here it is:

Quote:
At least one practitioner has shared that a DACA recipient successfully adjusted after
traveling abroad on advance parole. Similarly, TPS recipients who originally entered without
inspection, and thus – like DACA recipients – were unable to adjust, reportedly have been able
to adjust after returning on advance parole. In these cases, their status as parolees upon their
return rendered them eligible for adjustment.

Well parolee is listed as one of statuses eligible for FAFSA however as far as I'm aware that pertains only to people paroled in for humanitarian reasons.

Well you can file the application and see what'll happen. Worst case scenario you'll just get denied.

there is a difference between status changed, status changed through AP and way of entry change.

If you are EWI, with AP you can change that to entered WITH inspection which in turn, make it easier to adjust ( you get married with a USC, because your status is EWithI, its a lot easier to adjust your status). But, no, AP does NOT change your current status but your entry. But as mentioned, with a changed entry, you can do stuff easier to adjust.

“Parolee” (you must be paroled for at least one year, and you must be able to provide evidence from the USCIS that you are not in the United States for a temporary purpose and that you intend to become a U.S. citizen or permanent resident).

Our work permits are temporary for a purpose: work
