How's it going for Connecticut dreamers? Refer to the signature for timeline. I was going through the CT DMV website in preparation but things are still very unclear to me. Not too sure yet if we'll be eligible for drivers licenses. Anybody heard anything yet about this? How's your application process going? Lets see if our wait times are significantly less than our brethren from other states. If any CT dreamers need any help, definitely inbox me as I've already filed. A small fee will be charged for out of state Dreamers seeking help

The form to request a fee waiver will be available soon. Once received, the request will be routed to the nearest processing center. Please include your e-mail address and phone number for instant notification.

Friend of mine lives there. She is waiting on her biometrics. I do not believe CT DACA beneficiaries will be eligible as the current laws state. DMV would have to clarify similar to Oregon or Texas.

That's hard to believe. I think its just the wording on the website that may be misleading us. They need put that "EAD" directly in the Primary Identification List. Also, it doesn't specifically say that an unexpired Foreign Passport with I-94 is not valid.

That's why I said DMV needs to clarify their position on the matter. As it stands now and with the wording on the site, beneficiaries cannot receive a DL or ID.

Plus, what about if someone doesn't have an I-94 and came EWI? As I understand, CT passed a version of a Dream Act allowing for in-state tuition thus I don't see why they would make it difficult to obtain identification or a driver's licensee.

Exactly my argument. In state tuition is active now for undocumented dreamers plus this is a very liberal state and very open towards immigrants. I would expect the CT Dream coalition to send out an e-mail regarding this drivers license issue very soon. Otherwise I might just directly contact DMV or something.

I believe we will be able to get CT driver's license according to this http://www.ct.gov/dmv/lib/dmv/select...ccpt_docs3.pdf Work Authorization document can be used to prove legal presence.

Edison that's not the document in question. CT applicants fulfill all the requirements in the other areas except proving identity.
Quote:
You must present two (2) forms of identification; at least one of the documents must be from the Primary document list.

PRIMARY LIST
• US Birth Certificate or Registration of Birth (Government Issued; Hospital issued are not acceptable)
• US Passport or Passport Card
• Foreign Passport w/ a U.S. Visa and I-94 (See Legal Presence for additional requirements)
• Certificate of Naturalization
• Certificate of Citizenship
• Permanent Resident Card
• Consular Report of Birth Abroad
As I stated above, currently I do not see a way for CT applicants to receive a DL or ID because of this requirement. Will they allow for expired passports with expired visas? I doubt it. What about those who entered without inspection, they do not possess a I-94. See where I am coming from?

I believe the laws will be changed or DMV will clarify much like Oregon or Texas did. But as of now, I do not think you can apply for a DL/ID.

I think is possible the primary list is for u.s citizens which we're not.. Clearly lol but " Foreign Passport w/ a U.S. Visa and I-94 (See Legal Presence for additional requirements)" when you go to legal presence it says foreign passport with I 94 OR green card and/OR then it shows a list of documents which has EAD. I mean it still needs clarification but going by this I think you can someone should probably call or something lol

p.s im waiting for bio I got I 797 already just haven't updated my sig.
