W-8 taxes form

I set up a chase bank account and they tell me i have to file the W-8.

Is this correct?

Can someone please explain the tax situation of DACA beneficieries?

I believe you mean Form W9. I believe they told you to do that because you did not provide them with an SSN.

They only want to either know your ITIN or SSN because it is required they have your name exactly as it shows up on either of those two and if you don't fill out the form the only thing that happens is they withhold any interest they pay you.

Tax situation for those DACA approved is no different than anyone else except now we qualify for EIC if you meet all other requirements.

I did provide them with SSN. I also called the bank and they said im under w-8 because I'm not a citizen.

My mom got W9 and she's not a citizen.

She never filled it out though.

It has to do with the same thing I told you about form w9. Only they withhold more interest when they issue w8 and you don't fill it out.

Um, I think yhis is for non-citizens, they take around 28% of interest gains and give it to the government, but I thought that only apply to ppl without a ssn.

I thought that too but it applies to anyone who doesn't supply the bank with their SSN or ITIN. Only non-citizens get even more interest taken away than citizens do. Oh and I read somewhere you have to submit it like every 2-3 years? Anyone know anything about this?
