Just came back from local DMV to apply for non-driver's (state) ID and hell it was

pain in the butt..

So far, DMV was the toughest place to process in my post-DACA process.. LOL

First of all, the receptionist did not know what was category c33 was and he had to

talked to his supervisor about my weird EAD(?). Also, he asked me to bring I-797

notice of action letter (approval letter from DACA) so I had to come back home and

bring the document.. lol... When I applied for SSN, this wasn't necessary, all they

asked me was EAD and passport. But DMV sure is handling its job well I think.

The whole waiting and processing thing took me exactly 2 hours. While I don't know

how long my ID is going to be.. (hope that it's 4 years like regular state ID )

But with temporary state ID in my hand (it takes up to 15 days to receive ID in mail),

it's good feeling that I finally have my ID with me.

Make sure to bring every document and residential proof with you when u go to

DMV

Well you didn't read instruction properly. It says on their site you must bring I-797 approval notice with you. As far as the ID goes, the expiration date will be the same as your EAD's.

Well, it does say to bring all immigration document, but the receptionist admitted to me that c33 is new case so that he didn't know whether it is proper document or not.

thanks for the info, it does seem like the dmv is the craziest office in the whole daca process.

keep us updated,

(ps. are you also planning on applying for a drivers license?)

just like i thought! Might be easy to get approved for DACA but getting a DL might seem like a thorn in the ass.
