I applied for credit card last week and the bank teller told me since I'm college student

and my income is not that high.. I should apply for student credit card which has higher

chance of getting approved. So I updated my SSN (I had checking account with BOA for

almost 3 years) and filled out some application. But after a week, I got a reject letter

saying that they cannot issue credit card. But then funny thing was that they checked

my credit score and it was 801(?)

Since I get paid under the table (which I worked for even before DACA got

approved), I really have no real income but man.. BOA is kicking my ass..

I also opened an account with wells fargo and applied credit card on the same day

so I'm waiting to see what's going to happen with that.. If they approved my a credit

card, I'm gonna move my account to wells fargo

Anyone had hard time making UNSECURED credit card? T_T

Doesn't Well Fargo charge a monthly service fee? I moved my checking and savings account from Wells Fargo to Bank of America last year because of the fee. They were charging me $15 for both accounts. I now have the eBanking account from Bank of America and have no issues. It is very convenient since I do all the transactions through the ATM. In the end, all banks are the same.

Credit scores always start high. To encouraged people for applying for credit cards and loans and what not. The problems is I m sorry to say people don't have the means to keep or maintain that credit. Banks really don't give credit to people with out jobs. Plus if you didn't maintained proper inflows to show them you were working , they might reject you. I suggest your apply at capital one or discovery

Yea, wells fargo do charge monthly maintenance fee which can be avoided by using a card 10 times a month
But my plan was that since I'm the only one that have SSN in my family, wells fargo account would be served as credit card that my dad and mom will use and BOA will be the one which i will be using.. but then, BOA reject me lol..

When I get paid, I always put the money and spend in frequent basis, so that my balance in checking account is low.. well that might be the issue

I don't think they look at your bank accounts if you have money or not. They just look at the information you submit when you applied. They didn't send you a letter explaining why did you get rejected? They usually tell you in writing the reason you got rejected so you can take care of it and reapply.

They just stated about "based on current economic trend and credit report information, we are unable to approve your request," then in second page, they stated my credit score, according to FICO, was 801/850
LOL

Maybe your income is too low to be approved?

I also thought when you apply for credit cards and the banker tells you you will hear from them in a week or whatever that usually means you are not approved. From what I know, if you are approved, you're approved on the spot. I might be wrong, but that is what happened with my mother.
