House Speaker John Boehner, "It is not about me,"

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, knows the immigration system in America is broken and in sore need of repair.

What he doesn't know is what the House will do to fix it.

"The legal immigration system's broken," he said Sunday on "Face the Nation." "We have a problem with 11 million people who are here without documents - 40 percent of them, by the way, came here as legal immigrants. So we've got a very big problem."

Boehner said the immigration bill passed by the Senate was too "massive" and did not contain enough "serious triggers" to guarantee border security. He said the House would deal with reform "in chunks," but when he was asked whether he would allow the House to vote on a bill that included a pathway to citizenship for those 11 million undocumented immigrants, he repeatedly demurred.

"It is not about me," he said. "This is about allowing the House to work its will."

Democrats and some Republicans have warned that a bill without a path to citizenship stands no chance of passage, but Boehner remained noncommittal. "I'm not going to predict what's going to be on the floor and what isn't going to be on the floor, and that's what you're asking me to do. I can't do that, and I don't want to do that," he said. "What I committed to when I became speaker was to a more open and fair process. And as difficult as this issue is, me taking a hard position for or against some of these issues will make it harder for us to get a bill."

I love how he dodged the hell out that question.

I watched this interview and he dodged the hell out of a lot of questions.

Obviously it's not all about Boehner and what he wants but what the hell is he doing as house speaker? How is he leading?
Bob Schieffer said that there's mistrust of Boehner within his own party.
Why did they elect him to begin with?

Anyway, the talking heads on the program didn't think that CIR would go anywhere this year based on the lack of agreement between the house and senate (citizenship vs no citizenship etc) and no one wanting to budge.

So it's becoming clear that Boehner doesn't want a wholesale reform bill. That will leave many legal immigrants angry because the Senate bill provides some real relief with regard to reducing the enormous backlog in visa processing. The immigration system as a whole needs to be fixed. And not surprisingly, this piecemeal approach will probably bar citizenship to many undocumented adults who don't qualify for the Dream Act.

Here's how I see it from my eyes. Does Boehner deep down think and feel that CIR should definitely be passed with a strong legalization aspect? Absolutely without a doubt. Why doesn't Boehner outright reject the proposal of CIR? Because he does not want to anger the Latinos/Immigrant groups away, possibly losing so many votes. Why does Boehner keep delaying the issue and saying things like this? Because he wants to slowly kill it, make the Latinos think he actually tried, and finally keep his tea party/conservative base happy. This bill is going nowhere with leadership like this. Obama is sitting on his back watching the show from his comfortable leather sofa in AC while we're sweating bricks out rallying for this damn thing.

This is what they'll pass, all the boarder security and e-verify bull shit and when it comes to the legalization part, they'll have a brawl over citizenship or tps, they'll both disagree with each other, that part won't pass so the final bills that pass will be just boarder security, e-verify and tracking of visa overstays.. Couple years down the line, most immigrants won't be able to find work because of e-verify and will have to self-deport, I think that's the GOP's strategy. It's dirty, greasy and stale.. Much like the Republican Party.
