Hey I'm thinking of moving there as well. I'm craigslisting for rooms and jobs. I'm in Cincinnati right now.

Not in Austin but have friends there and visited there a couple of times. Austin is a great immigrant friendly and liberal city. It's weird because they have found a way to be both Texan AND fun and open minded. Sure they're a little too in love with themselves but overall, it's the opposite of the rest of the Texas as far as attitude goes.

The problem is, the fun parts of the city are pretty damn expensive. The age group is also either college kids going to UT or older people over 40. The job market isn't that great either so to find an affordable place and/or a job, you might have go out to the more rural areas in which case you're back out in redneckville.

Austin is indeed pretty expensive and the jobs are either service jobs or their very small high-tech industry (AMD & etc are in Austin).

It's Texas, but not really Texas.

On other news, the word "shit" is okay to say on television. The word "republican" has been added to the curse words list.

I heard that anyone flying to and out of McAllen Texas get checked if they're in the country legally, is this true for Austin as well? Does anyone know?

New Jersey is a dump, I'd reconsider that.

Source: I've been to almost every part of jersey and have been in that state 1000+ times over the years, it's nothing special and for the most part, it's a dump.. New York is much better.

Not even close. McAllen is within walking distance of the border. Border Patrol have authority to do checks within 100 miles of the border. Austin is a very immigrant friendly city where they're not allowed to ask that stuff unless you do something bad first.
