Appearing on Morning Joe earlier today, the New York Democrat predicted that pressure from “economic conservatives” such as the Cato Institute and the Wall Street Journal editorial board will play a role in influencing the House GOP.

Schumer showed no signs of budging on the issue; when asked if he would accept a plan that would give illegal immigrants legal status but not citizenship, Schumer responded, “I don’t think that would be acceptable.”

It's one thing to be confident and optimistic but another to actually go out and persuade congressmen/women to vote for this bill and then come back with facts saying there's a certain # of people willing to support it. Kinda wish schumer would do this more.

Agree. However, Rep. Gutierrez has always been straight forward and blatantly honest on this issue. The fact that he has been optimistic the last month or so about "having the votes" gives me hope.
