Hey guys, I've been trying to figure this out for a while now but haven't had any luck. I'm currently applying to transfer to a university here in California and was wondering if any of you have already gone through the process. I got my social security number and everything through the deferred action earlier this year, so now that I'm filling up my university applications, it asks me for my ss# which I have, then it asks me for my citizenship status. For those of you who have already applied to a university, what answer did you give here? Obviously the answer wouldn't be "us citizen" but since deferred action doesn't give us a visa in the first place, (F visa, J visa, Refugee/Assylum, Immigrant I-551) would the appropriate answer be "none of the above"?

Might be a dumb question, but i'm really nervous about this whole application thing so for any of you that already applied to a university after deferred action, even if outside california, how did you guys go about these type of questions? Thanks

I actually applied to several CSU's out of high school in 2006 so no SSN, i just put i wasn't a citizen or resident. I don't think they really care about your status it is mostly used for determining how much tuition will cost you. I've attended CSULA, CSULB and CSUDH all prior to DACA. The only extra thing i had to do was fill out an AB540 form so that i would pay in-state tuition at every school

Oh okay, thanks. So i should be good with that form then right? (AB 540) and did you have to fill out a form for each one? Sorry just not that familiar with it

Yes I did have to fill out a separate form for each school after transferring. You don't need to fill it out yet if you are just applying to the schools. You would need to fill it out after you've been accepted and decide what to school to go to, if you don't fill it out they'll charge you out of state tuition.
