today I was checking my credit report and saw that I was placed into collection for a debt t i somehow forgot to pay back in 2008. When I called the collection agency (I know why people hate them, they are very rude and even ,yell at you lol) I got manage to get some information out of them. I opened a t-mobile flex acct using my Itin and did not pay my final month using them. I let it go because I never received any invoice from them. All the information the collection agency has are my full name and address. Since I got approved by DACA they were unable to match my new S.S when I provided it to them(well last 4 digit ). What do I do?? I can not believe a stupid mistake I did opening a phone acct before will hurt my credit now or maybe even worse. ( I went to the hospital for a seizure and I was send countless bill of over 19,00 ,) Has anybody had this type of scenario happen to them?????? plz help with any advice, thank you all for any information.

Collection accounts are fairly bad on the credit scores. The best thing to do is to pay them off completely. You can pay it all at once or set up a plan with the collection company. Once you paid it off, write the collection company a letter to get them to close the collection report on the credit report and to get a response in writing. It is better to have a closed collection than an open one.

alright man you are gonna have to pay. but play the broke card I've learn this from my uncle who was a business owner. when you owe them you are gonna have to pay if you want that off your credit score. tell them you are a broke college student and can't afford to pay that ammount they will either lower the amount or place you in a payment plan. idk how much it its you owe but you can knock off easy 20-30 bucks if you tell them right now you can only afford to pay a certain ammount. half the time they will take it , remember ask for a confirmation number or have them send you a receipt saying you paid via email or mail.

Bad advice.... What state are you in? Who is the collection agency? Midland? Just paying it won't improve your score. I can tell you exactly how to fix this. PM if you want. Do not give the collection agency any info, and do not talk to them on the phone.
