Hi there, I'm 24 have had DACA since last August. I've only just now been looking into getting my drivers license after finally having a job to save a bit of money.

Today I went in to take my Written test and passed, just need the driving portion.

As far as i know, NC law requires my name to be on a insurance policy rather than just borrowing an insured car and taking the test like that.

1 of my options is adding my name to my parents policy with Allstate. They have been with Allstate for at least 10 years, however both of their licenses expired (2007, 2009)
If we show up, and they pull up their account info.. is there any danger of Allstate doing anything in terms of cancelling the policy seeing how they dont have a valid license? (I would think not considering Allstate keeps getting their money but still)...

I called a local place for insurance and was quoted at $650 for 6 months, as long as I could pay it monthly i feel this isnt too bad. I've yet to call Allstate and see what the cost would be to add me to their policy. They currently pay $60 every month.

What have you done? I'm not sure what to do exactly, this is all new to me and seeing how my parents haven't been able to do anything regarding their licenses or insurance.. its all been the same way now for years.

You should be fine. Just give them the policy number and tell them to add you as a driver. I did this myself and no driver license was asked from my dad. They just need your info such as name, DOB, etc.
