I was just hired with a big company that is sending me to Japan to train for 3 months. They expect to ship us out in two months. I was wondering if anyone here knew how long the processing for advanced parole will take. If I submit the application now, would I get approved by March?

And yes, I know there's no official instruction for us DACA people yet, but I read on the forum about multiple people applying through the normal process and they were approved. Since I have a good reason for advanced parole and there's news about not triggering the 10 year ban, I'm really anxious to give it a try.

Any tips/suggestions welcome! Thanks!

As far as I know, an AP takes about 3 months to process with things similar to DACA like TPS. Not sure if there's an expedited process though. Might want to check with a lawyer about the process.

USCIS will expedite an application, including an application for a travel document, Form I-131, in certain situations, which may include:
  • Severe financial loss to company or individual
  • Extreme emergent situation
  • Humanitarian situation
  • Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States
  • Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government.)
  • USCIS error
  • Compelling interest of USCIS

You may maket an expedite request by contacting the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283 or by submitting a written request and supporting documentation with your application.

I am not sure if your reason would qualify. Definitely worth to give them a call that you will lose your job is you do not get the AP soon.

However: You are allowed to file for Advance Parole if you have an approved I-821D. You would have to attach a copy of the I-797 approval notice for I-821D, and a letter (preferably one from the company) explaining why you need to travel abroad. Since DACA falls under the "other" category, since it is not explicitly named anywhere in the instructions, you will have to send in your application to either Dallas, TX lockbox or Phoenix, AZ lockbox (depending where you live). Application fee is $360, there is no biometric fee for DACA approved.
