I recall attending the first phone public hearing regarding DACA and almost 80-95% of the participants asked the USCIS representative whether they would still qualify for DACA with a DUI case.

Seems very irresponsible given our current situation to risk DUI.

Opinions?

Whatever happened to "driving is a privilege, not a right"? If you're stupid enough to drink and drive (not to mention incredibly irresponsible) you deserve to be deported.

Most of these people here writing on here probably have driven drunk or buzzed and didn't get caught.

Don't be a "holier than thou" douche bag!

You can get a DUI for many reasons, not just for physically driving a vehicle.

Are you serious? Just because you aren't responsible doesn't mean everyone is the same as you...

I don't drink thus impossible for me to get a DUI, but I believe you should still be allowed to renew. Anybody can make a mistake.

Yeah except when someone dies but like you said anyone can make a mistake. If Youre willing to risk that you really shouldn't be driving.

All facts must be considered. And with DACA and renewal, all facts are considered. The questions that would arise are often- does the DUI lead to other more significant misdemeanors or felonies? And whether or not there are other negative factors in the person's record that suggests he/she is a criminal or a significant danger to society?

If the DUI is the only negative factor in the whole picture, then why would they not give consideration to an extension? Individuals make mistakes, we're human, but we have to be aware that mistakes can come at a cost.

You should remember that we're immigrants. We are fighting to show that we are valuable to society. Bad individual decisions can easily change the perception of all of us.
