Wanted to share my wife's AP experience

My wife was approved for AP about 3 weeks ago. We went to Guatemala last week and just got back to the US last Sunday with no issue. We landed in LAX, and they interviewed her which took less than 30 minutes. Leaving Guatemala City was a different experience. When we got to Guatemala City airport, we went to the airline counter to get her boarding pass printed. The lady at the airline counter gave us total attitude. My wife showed her the 2 AP documents, and for some reason, she said that she needed to keep 1 of the AP documents. That's when I interrupted, and said there there is no way that we are giving her the AP document. There is no reason for her to keep that document, but she absolutely believed that she had to keep it. She kept insisting and acted that she knew what she was doing and we didn't know anything. She gave us attitude to begin with, so when she insisted to keep the document, I was very upset. I told her that I do not understand why she had to keep an original since she does not work for immigration. She just works for the airline. I asked to speak to a manager, and she put her manager on a 2 way radio. I didn't understand the whole conversation because they were speaking in Spanish (non-Spanish speaker here), but her manager pretty much told her that a copy would do. She had us go to one of the shops at the airport to make a copy of the document, but it was a Sunday and the shop that makes photocopies was closed since it was a Sunday. I spoke to an immigration officer if he could help and explained our predicament, and the immigration officer said that he does not understand why the airline needs a copy of the document, and even if they need a copy, it is their responsibility to make the copy and not us. I went back to my wife and told her what the immigration officer said. I asked my wife to speak to the lady at the airline counter because if I spoke with her, I would totally blow up. The lady did make a copy of the document, but she made us wait. I was really furious at that lady not just because she did not know what she was doing but because of her attitude. Okay, I'm done venting now. LOL.

Moral lesson: The airline does not need an original copy of the AP document, so even if they insist, NEVER give an original copy of the AP document. Make a copy of the AP document just in case they ask for it.

We are now in the process of filing for my wife's adjustment of status, and we hope that everything goes well.
