We'll like the title says I'm wondering if qualify for any financial aid, if I'm here under the DACA program, and my parents don't file their taxes. I applied to fasfa online, but they made me fill a paper version of it. Weeks later someone from the financial aid office called me and said since my parents don't file their taxes I can't receive any financial aid. My parents blame it on me . I read all the rules and requirements to be considered independent which I'm not. Has anyone had any success in my situation?
I'm 18 yrs old and live in Texas by the way.

Sorry. You don't qualify for FAFSA or any other form of federal or state financial aid. You can try scholarships and private loans online and/or you can put your work permit to work and find a job and start saving. I worked, saved, got a loan for the rest and made it.

I second edison's response.

We don't qualify for FAFSA.

My friend is also here under DACA and he gets financial aid, but he has a different case then me his father left him as a kid and he qualified to be a resident. However at the time he received financial aid he was just under deferred status. Does that still make a diffdifference? I'm really tired of my parents blaming this on me. Ill work I don't care I just hate it.

you can apply for CALGRAND but as far as I know only in public schools not private bacause the deadline is over. you can always go ask at a college .. they will let you know what options you have, also it may vary by state
