I got a summer internship offer in North Carolina. I guess I am wondering for those of you who live in NC what is it like living with DACA in that state?

-Thanks

LOL! What is it like?! WHATS IT LIKE?!

It's fine. I encounter no issues other than my DACA license being shown and revealing my immigration status. Other than that my days are normal. It's hot in the summer and chilly in the fall. Snows once, maybe twice, never more a foot of snow. Summer is blazing. It's also Humid. So when you step outside you get a coating of water on your skin that impedes perspiration, but that should be no issue. There is a ton of blacks, I'm not sure if you're racist but there's racists and blacks here. Avoid sketchy areas and you should be ok. Sketchy areas have garbage laying about, or people sitting around doing nothing. A real country style feeling. People like to sit on a chair on their porch and just be outside. I know my porch can certainly fit a chair. I might learn to play the banjo just so I can sit on my porch with a chair.

Theres trump supporters and the KKK is here too. Sometimes the KKK will have rallies on private property and nobody here cares cause its their private property and people have guns if the KKK wants to try something. Sometimes you'll get "looks" for having brown skin or for having daca but whatever. In the country sides theres a higher proportion of looks, but still meaningless.

Our republican government doesn't really like us, but Pat McCuckold does what Obama tells him or Obama will show up and tell him how it'll go down. I don't really encounter any issues living in NC with daca. There's out of state tuition for colleges here, but you can get an exemption in certain ways and pay in-state rates.

Oh and everyone, even me, has a country accent. Y'all. How you doin'? Ain't. Rednecks say Yonder for some reason. I wouldn't right off the bat start appropriating the southern lingo, let it naturally assimilate into you. NC is a good state in my opinion, it's going through changes, but its certainly a good place to be. NC is certainly a state in transition, and southern hospitality is a real thing. North Carolinians will help out whenever they can.

There's mountains in the east, hilly middle(where I am) , and the beautiful NC beaches. If you come here you must absolutely visit the beach, take a swim, and take a photo against the lighthouses
Fun Fact: The coast can function as a natural fortification against ships hampering invasion from the sea.
Fun Fact 2: There is a surprisingly low number of Hurricanes, Earth Quakes or anything storm related that causes huge damage. Very blessed state.

Wow! I like your writing style... Anyways thank you that was very informative. I will be in the Raleigh-Durham area, so hopefully I don't encounter the KKK lol

Thank you, I've put a ton of work into writing it.

I've been living here a while and I've never seen one. Maybe they run around in normal clothes and on certain days or something go to their meetings. I've been to Raleigh for the Mexican consulate office. Large city indeed. Made me thankful for my 250k size city. Tons of traffic, and I don't know where to go.

I wanted to give you a brief overview of the state, and I can go into more detail as best I can. Why not move to NC? Maybe you can find yourself a nice southern gal/guy to take care of you with the famous southern hospitality. If that's not to your liking you might find more transplants. Like I said earlier, it's a state in transition and it's one of those critical battle ground states. One more daca future citizen can tip the scales

My mother lives in Ashville, NC. I've travelled there many times.
It's really gorgeous. While I do get a few stares, because I'm BLACK, I've never, so far, been treated offensively.
I was once approached by a redneck who noted that he rarely saw black people in the area but offered free food at his restaurant the next time I visited.

That said, I still do not feel comfortable in the state. I've had extended stays across many States, and could say NC is one of my least favored States. Yes, there is potential but it severely lags behind many other states in many ways.
West coast, central, Northeast and southeast are easilly the most accepting (and wealthy) no matter your ethnicity.

Thank you for your response. During the one day visit I did get some stares and the hotel receptionist did made a remark about 'brown people' but I guess it's good enough for a summer visit.
