Tech companies are leading the effort but are working to involve other industries, the sources say. The letter will be the first major push from big U.S. businesses to try to support immigration in the wake of a recent travel restriction order by Trump.

Update: Here’s a draft of the letter:

Dear President Trump,

Similarly, we stand ready to identify ways of helping to achieve your stated goal of bringing clarity to the future of the 750,000 Dreamers in this country under the protections of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in a way “that will make people happy and proud.” Removing these protections by barring renewals would effectively end the program and eliminate the ability for these Dreamers to work and live without the fear of deportation.

In a way, I do hope DACA ends one day but only if we get a permanent solution.

Given the uncertainty, I am okay with DACA continuing for 4 more years until the Orange Cheeto is kicked out.

More pressure from companies that for sure employ a hand full of dreamers !!!

California should just come up with their own employment authorizations for Dreamers only.

Also restrict the flow of people who believe in radical right wing ideologies.

Do a ban based on 7 of the most redneck states.

Does anyone know if this is legally possible? Like granting Driver Licenses through AB60, or medical to DACA beneficiaries? They passed AB60 on the reasoning that it would make California safer by making sure everyone was insured. I don't know what the argument was for granting medical to DACA holders, but I think they did it anyway. Since California has a state income tax, can they grant California only EAD's on the basis that if they don't then the state would lose it's state income tax from DACA people or something?

I know it's just grasping at straws at the moment, but so was the AB60 driver license before it became a thing. Also if California does end up passing that statewide sanctuary law, maybe a statewide EAD could be a possibility. It would be an interesting State vs Fed issue to discuss.

Medi-cal was granted to DACA because a law already existed granting Medi-cal to immigrants residing under the Color of Law. Of course, they extended Medi-cal to undocumented children in California now as well.

Who knows. It may be a possiblity... I think California leaving the United States is also another possibility. Just look at Brexit, CalExit might become true if we continue to see what Trump has unleashed in such a short amount of time.
