ok, so this is the deal..... i just canceled my cell phone order because wirefly was acting up and didn’t want to sell me the blackberry curve for $150. So i also have no TV in my room, i went to eBay and bought a vizio 37inch 720p. Well that didn’t work because the seller told me he no longer has the tv. ok so here i am debating what to buy.... i live in a basement so it’s really hard for me to get signal at all, that’s why i want the curve with the hotspot at home from t mobile so i can make calls from my wifi network. I’m pretty sure i can buy both by next week, but i really want to start making phone calls from home and i will really like to watch tv " as i dont even have one yet". my other issue was that i didn’t know what to buy in terms of resolution. i know the 1080p is the best, but you can only take 100% advantage if you buy a 50inch TV or bigger. i really don’t think i should buy one of those as i only need it for my room and to play ps3 and watch my blue ray movies from 7 to 10 feet away. The other issue was whether i should buy a recognize brand like sony, sangsum or pioneer or go with a new comer like the vizio. Which i may add is pretty damn good for its price. saw it next to the sony bravia at cosco and I was impress. so what you guys think i should do?

^ Actually to take full advantage of the 1080p you must be a certain distance away from the screen. To determine your optimal screen size/viewing distance/resolution take a look at this handy chart. In your case, since you will be viewing the screen from 7 to 10 feet away and the visio is 37", the visio would be just about perfect. In other words, if you got a larger screen or sat closer than 7 to 10 feet, you would not be viewing an optimal picture.

And about the purchasing TV's on ebay. If for some reason the TV arrives damaged or DOA, it will be a less than pleasant experience trying to make a return. I'd highly recommend purchasing large items like that from your local electronics store.

I'd say go for the visio after reading reviews online, to help you make an informed decision. If the difference in prices is significant, go for the off brand.
