It's just common sense. New HS graduates will weight the cost/benefit to apply for DACA. In one hand, they can get a permit, in another, they're disclosing info about their families who are vulnerable to deportation (address, circumstances, etc...).

It would take non-insignificant effort to apply w/o lying and shielding one's family (moving from current address, and having recipient live elsewhere).

We took that chance knowing the risks but we never predicted a Trump character if the Republicans took the presidency. If dreamers are held back by fear, their education and job prospects will undoubtedly suffer as a result. There is also a chance that Trump rescinds renewals in 2 yrs. time under a systemic anti-immigration plan.

I know DHS keeps numbers on DACA, will be interesting to see how they dwindle in the coming years.

but I thought DHS wouldn't even share all dreamers' information.

With an uptick in new border patrol hires, a privatized prison system lobbying in DC, and Trump's orders to submit statistics on the greatness of his program, all factors pushing for higher quotas, it would be interesting to know how long that stays true.

Lol if I graduated HS today I would apply for DACA in a heartbeat. Life is about taking chances.

There are 800k people that are already in the system. Why wouldn't you apply for it? Plus you are better off with DACA than without.

Much better. I couldn't imagine going back to the shadows.

I was still in high school when I first applied for DACA back in 2012 and I even got approved.

Life has been good to me since then.

Wish I had the same opportunity while I was in high school. Some of those that got it right after high school take it for granted.
