GOP Congress members wrote to Trump today urging to keep the program for current DACA recipients.

Man a part of me is hoping he doesn't. The environment is heated and the time to strike is now.

The letter coming out on the day Trump is speaking in Arizona makes it seem like he will talk about DACA?

In any case, the GOP members here are asking to keep DACA for current recipients so a change of some sort may indeed be in the way, e.g. close the program to new applicants, and keep it for those who have DACA already.

keeping DACA for current recipients is not something that we should feel relieved of, it's just more cover for congress members who don't want to tackle this politically charged issue, i.e. Kicking the can down the road.

Politically, it might cool down the tension. Policywise it means the program will slowly phase out.

As a DACA recipient, we might get denied renewals for whatever small reason, and we will never be able to re-apply again. There is no reconsideration, even when USCIS makes an administrative error.

That's not completely true. There was someone on here who got denied DACA renewal because USCIS claimed she left US without AP. It was an error, and with a lawyer's help she was able to have the decision reversed and DACA renewed.

Thanks for that reminder.

I believe this was an effort by (DRM) Dream Action Coalition. I saw this on their facebook group:

You are talking about the past, I'm talking about what might happen in the future when the guideline is changed.

the only part of this that worries me is the "current DACA recipients" part. I applied for the first time about a month ago and have my biometrics date set for August 23rd, so tomorrow morning. I really am worried that I'll end up being left DACAless and out $1000 from the application fee and lawyer fee if Trump decides to only defend current recipients and stop allowing new applicants. Especially since there are still people who didn't qualify due to age and are just now aging into qualifying.
