hello members, im glad that i found this website.

ive been in US NJ since i was 14.

i graduated highschool then tried to move on to the college but the status

got me a trouble to getinto the school that i wanted.

so i started to attend community college where status doesnt matter to attend school.

i was there for 4 years for 2 years associate program just because i needed to 'student' status in order to extend my passport and not being drawned by military in my own country.

after attending 4 years of community college i decided to move on to the real college that i wanted to go. there was aloooot of problem just to get into the college cause of my status, but i begged and begged and i finally got in to Pratt Institute in NY brooklyn. despite the high tuition i had to pay without any help of outside source or aid, i managed to attend 3 semesters where i enjoyed the most in my entire life time.

but my health became very bad, to the point where i cant even move my fingure, due to the overwork and overstressed. paying $ 40k / yr and dealing the tuition alone with the school work caused the problem i guess.
not to mention i was under the pressure that i had a feeling that i had to be the best student to survive in this school without a valid status and losing all the opportunities such as internship etc. that helped me become a 3.9 gpa student but caused me alot of stress to cause the illness.

my dad from korea declared he wont be supporting 40k/ yr after hes paid one semester(alone with 4 years of community college tuition), so i asked my uncle to get a loan for me and he did it once for me, thankfully, but he said he wont do it again. and i couldnt pay for the 3rd semester.

thats my story.. so i stopped school and been taking my year off, recovering my health, and im almost normal now, and sadly i am now already 26 years old.

all my family got their green card about 2 years ago except me.
my grand parents are citizens in US and invited my mother. we, instead of waiting 10 years, decided to just stay in US illegally until the green card is granted, well i was 14 so i didnt know whats going on, i was just forced to move into US. once, i was eligible to obtain the green card, but after 9.11 and all the delays and etc, i became 21 and that made me not eligible to obtain the greencard, wheras my brother was still under 21 and he was able to get his green card.

now i am getting too old, all my friends got their salary jobs now then, but im the only one without a job.

sorry bout the long post, its just , there is no where i can go all out bout this u know...

here is the question i have bout the driver's lisense.
i got my driver's lisense 8 years ago when the law wasnt strict at all.
i renewed it 4 years ago by internet and got my non-photo lisense(i was not eligible to get the photoed one without the valid status)
and its going to expire soon, like in 15 days or so. the renewing thru internet has been disabled ( state of NJ )

well in order to renew my lisense, what do i need?
is that 6 points quilification all i need to have?
if thats the case, i have the valid passport with i-94(i lost original but i have the copied one) for 4 points, and i have atm bank card and high school diploma for other 2 points. i dont have SS#, or valid visa or status.
will i be able to renew my lisense? if neone knows could u insight me plz?

You'd have to research NJ dmv website, but in lot of places, bank statements and school related documents aren't valid.. I'm not sure about NJ though. Also, make sure that they want an unexpired I-94, they'll check. The states that'll waiver the SS# usually asks you to provide a valid visa to offset it.

I live in NJ and right around the time I was going to get my license it got really strict (right after 9/11).

I looked up NJ DMV, and the information for non-citizens is in the link I provided: http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Licenses/...n-Citizens.htm

It seems in addition to 6 point system, you have to prove legal status, though I'm not a hundred percent sure. The only other advice I can give you, is calling up the DMV and asking, so they won't know your identity. Maybe for renewing a license an 1-94 is enough; I do know they got insanely strict in NJ. Hope this helps.

There's also this link (http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Licenses/...ctor/index.htm) where online you can go through what you need to achieve the six points and first question is if you are a US citizen or not.
