I've heard that SSN is for life... If EAD expires, will using our SSN and filing taxes be legal?

Yes. You just cannot use it for work purposes because it's restricted social. Says on it only valid with DHS authorization meaning the EAD.

Become self-employed if possible. Received DACA in 2012 and been self employed since 2013. Up until this day i have never thought about my "status " in this country. Simply filed my taxes every year with my USC hubby. Only until now after traveling with AP and submitting my AOS application am I a little aware of my "situation ".

Other than work, that number is yours for the end of your life.

yes. Paulie makes a good point about becoming self-employed, if possible, to avoid this conundrum.

the SSN you have now is yours forever. if you adjust status, you keep the same one, minus the restrictions.
