It's nice to see the process has already started. Hopefully they will come up with a solution soon that is sensible and one that both sides can agree.

Quote:
Speaker Paul Ryan is impaneling an informal working group of moderate Republicans and immigration hard-liners to find a solution for so-called Dreamers that the House GOP conference can support....
The panel will be tasked with coming up with solutions for all those issues that could be supported by a majority of the majority.
Quote:
Sources close to leadership say House Republicans plan to ask Trump to push for the wall as part of any DACA fix. The group will, no doubt, discuss the matter and other provisions Republicans would need to continue legal status for Dreamers.

Membership on the new panel will comprise a diverse swath of the conference. Immigration hard-liners, including House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) and Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.), will sit on the panel.

So, too, will more centrist members from Hispanic-populated districts who have followed immigration closely, including Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) and Will Hurd (R-Texas).

The chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), will also join the working group. So, too, will Rep. John Carter (R-Texas), who chairs the appropriations subcommittee on homeland security, and Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), another member of the Homeland Security Committee.

The Wall is a non starter for Dems! Republicans pushing for that just want to derail us . Unless the GOP plan on passing a bill with only republican votes , this won't work!

Yea...I can't see anything good coming out of that group. Ryan is still stalling.

At least this creation of a working group is a good sign. He is, at the end, just one person and can't pass anything just by himself.

wtf?! Sensenbrenner killed CIR in 06 and 07 cause of the amnesty provisions! dont trust these group of folks!

I believe he's worried about himself, too. His career as the speaker will undoubtedly be in jeopardy if he goes against the majority of House GOP member's wishes and brings the DA up for vote, which would violate his commitment to the Hastert Rule.

Guys, I believe you all have this wrong. This working group is the right the thing and is needed to actually determine consensus within the GOP party. If most members are in support of us, as we believe, then it will be reflected in the outcome of this group.

The fact Steve King is isn't in it is a huge relief.
