My DACA and work permit are expiring in December and my case is still under review.
My driver's license expires on the same day.

I am under the impression that the DMV in FL gives a driver's license with an expiration date matching the work permit's expiration date.

My dad is insisting that I go renew my driver's license now while my work permit is still valid and I am telling him that they won't do it because my work permit expires in December. They won't give me a license that is valid passed December.
Am I right or does my dad have a point?
If anyone experienced this in FL or has any comments please let me know.

Because Florida is already complaint with the REAL ID law. I'm afraid you won't be able to renew your Driver's license pass your work permit expiration date. You will have to wait until your permit gets renewed in order to extend it pass December.

Florida will not allow you to renew past your EAD expiration date. If for some reason you do not think your DACA will renew, consider getting a license from some of the "easier" states like CA, IL etc.

I live in fl and in August my daca expired and my driver license, i call the dmv and they told me if i take the receipt that i get from uscis and my expired license they will renew it, i was afraid but i went and they make copys in there computer of my renewal receipt and they give me one year renewal license, they told me once you send in for a renewal of your work permit before it expired they are allowed to renew your license for a year, so when your work permit expire or the the day before yor work permit expire take it and the papers that you get from uscis to show that you already send in to get another work permit and they will renew your license, two of my family did the same thing

Its not true that fl wont let you renew your license when your ead expire because i did two weeks after my ead expire by just taking the receipt for my work permit and my expired work permit and expired license but you can call them before you go thats what i did and my family did the same

You can't say is NOT TRUE. Every experience is different, just like in California, some DACA holders got 5 year licenses and some got 2 years. Depends on what location you go to and of course if you get lucky.

Maybe you're the one being "salty" and quite frankly over sensitive because I wasn't attacking her opinion, I simply corrected it, huge difference. Sorry if I pinched a nerve.

why do you need to correct her? even if its a case by case thing or not the writer just needs to give it a try. don't need your saltiness to be added to her comment it didn't do any good. what you've commented was not much of an addition lol
