One thread with all the tweets / discussion about today news makes sense?

.@GOPLeader tells members what he told @BresPolitico & me this am: That Rs are NOT negotiating DACA while the government is shutdown.

Seems we may have aSenate-House GOP schism here? House Rs say ALL DACA talks suspended until Dems re-open gov. But some Senate Rs wanna talk
@rachaelmbade

Quote:
Ryan told members just now that some Dems want a 5 day extension but Ryan is keen to stick with the bill House passed ... he knows many Rs want DACA fix but at this point Dems have to agree to CR if they want any progress on that issue, per Members in the room

GOP Rep. Charlie Dent says this AM: “We’re going to get blamed whether we deserve it or not.”
@mkraju

Quote:
Charlie Dent unfiltered: retiring PA Republican tells reporters this only ends one way... Dems agree to CR and Republicans agree to a DACA vote, something Dems and moderate Rs can point to as a guarantee of sorts on the issue
@costareports

Source says the White House believes Schumer will press for some concessions for “a few days if that long”
@DavidWritght_CNN

House Republicans don't seem like they're willing to tie DACA to any proposal to reopen the government. They argue they haven't even seen a DACA/immigration bill.
LoopEmma
Maybe we can make them break at some point?

INSIDE THE HOUSE DEM CAUCUS: Two House Democrats say @SenatorDurbin — who is huddling with them this AM — said he and McConnell were negotiating positively last night when McConnell got a call from @SpeakerRyan, returned and said all bets are off.

One Dem said the discussion included talk of bringing an immigration bill to the floor in both chambers but Ryan wasn’t prepared to commit to that in the House.

Lmao no trips for Trump until government is back up. Guess his bitchass is staying in DC. He can't do it. He needs to golf.

Seems like Graham is pushing for CR until Feb 8 very hard right now based on his tweets.

What is the point? Like why is he pushing so hard for Feb 8 if he wants to help the dreamers? I feel like he's too smart not to realize that the chances of DACA-related legislation grows slimmer every day. And he knows that March is looming and 1 month is not enough time to solve something (especially with this Congress) and then implement it.

Everyone is keen on extending this bs for few more week. We all know they get comfortable and end up doing nothing. Then it's the same crap all over again.

He feels that they will get votes on immigration between now and Feb 8... BUT Ryan just said he won't bring it up for the vote LOL

I know you guys want it now... but they need to negotiate and build a bill that will pass with bipartisan support. Whether that be adding more money for the wall, re-visiting chain migration, etc. these things don’t come from thin air.

I am not against keeping the shithole open, but IF they agree on something that will never get brought up in the house whats the point?
