Austin sucks. You have no kind of professional sports teams. Bars are ok though. Dallas is where it’s at.

The above guy must not be an engineer.

I've heard good things about Austin, lots of engineers and plenty of jobs for us. Very active city and lots to do!

Go for it!

Right now, there are only 3 cities that I can see myself living in very comfortably and Austin is one of them. It's a youthful city and though it's not as hippy as it used to be in the 90's, it's still quirky and there is always some sort of event or festival going on like SxSW, ACL, Fun Fun Fun Fest, etc.

Politically, it's very liberal which makes it kind of an Oasis in Texas...there is also a place called Oasis with the best sunset you'll ever see overlooking Lake Travis. Seriously, google it.

Geographically, it's a beautiful city with a respectable skyline overlooking Lady Bird Lake/Colorado River and there is plenty of nature and hiking when you go west towards the Hill Country. Just watch out for fucking snakes. I keep seeing photos of Coral Snakes that people post...sure they don't have fangs but still, fuck snakes.

Oh and the girls...holy crap. I'm too old for UT girls, but the city is crawling around with beautiful rich white girls who are exploring their sexuality and their freedom away from their parents. They tend to either go for rich white guys but you never know...you seem like the type who likes a challenge. There are also a lot of "alternative girls" who are not unlike the types of girls you'd meet in Seattle - tatoos, kind of angsty, think anybody who lives outside of austin is a farmer. But fear not, there are lots of professionals and types of girls mom approves of also.

I wish I could show you my photos I've taken there but take my word, it's a cool place. A little too in love with itself and traffic sucks, but cool non the less.

I'm not sure i can survive the scorching summer heat. I'm very sensitive to temperatures. Sam Diego is perfect.

It's a bit more of a dry heat compared to say Houston.

Austin is a good place for true IT jobs. Anything outside of that, and you might be looking for jobs for months on end.

Dallas is probably a good bet. You can always make the short drive to Austin!
